Boeing Australia and Israel Aircraft Industries Team Wins Australian UAV Contract

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--The Boeing Australia and Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) team will provide Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (TUAV) capability to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) for airborne surveillance in land operations.

“Boeing Australia looks forward to providing the ADF with the first unmanned aerial vehicle system to enter Australian service on a scale as large as this” said Boeing Australia’s Managing Director, David Gray.

“The I-View system that Boeing Australia and our partner, IAI/(MALAT Division), will deliver is among the most advanced tactical unmanned aerial vehicles in the world today.”

The Boeing Australia /IAI solution for project JP 129, the I-View 250 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) sets the standard for air vehicle technology, providing airborne surveillance, reconnaissance, and target acquisition to support ADF operations. Key I-View features include dual-redundant, fully automated, launch and recovery mechanisms including a unique powered parafoil landing system that allows recovery in rough, confined terrain with little or no surface preparation. The TUAV has multiple payload and communication options to ensure superior performance and coalition interoperability.

Yair Dubester, General Manager of IAI/MALAT Division, said: "IAI/MALAT is proud that the ADF has selected the I-View as its Tactical UAV system. I-View is IAI/MALAT's fourth-generation Tactical UAV system, and is built on our extensive experience with UAV technology over the past 30 years. I-View offers not only high performance and flexibility, but also future growth to support the ADF’s operational needs.”

The Boeing Australia/IAI solution also includes a strong in-country support, modification, and upgrade capability that builds Australian self-reliance and critical capability development.

“We are particularly pleased that a number of Australian small-to-medium enterprises and research institutions will assist us to deliver our solution and provide through life support,” David Gray said. “Boeing Australia strongly supports the development of local industry and research organisations, and the activities that will be undertaken as part of the JP 129 project will clearly demonstrate that commitment.

“We look forward to a successful partnership with the Commonwealth throughout the service life of the JP 129 system, and working collaboratively with industry, academia and Defence to further develop and grow these key in-country capabilities in the challenging new frontier of unmanned systems.”
