Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--The Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group, Korea’s largest automobile manufacturing group, announced today that it has donated US$200,000 to support relief efforts for victims of the massive landslide that hit the Philippines on February 17, 2006.

Kia Motors Corporation and Hyundai Motor Company each donated US$100,000 to the relief effort through Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at a ceremony held yesterday at the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines in Malacañang Palace.

Kia Motors Senior Executive Vice President and COO Jung-Moon Park said, “Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims of this truly unfortunate disaster. We commend all the governments and volunteers from around the world that have made generous donations of resources to help with relief efforts.”

In the past, Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group has been an active participant in providing emergency assistance for disaster relief, in the form of ambulances, relief goods and other aid. The company provided support for victims of the Iran and Algeria earthquakes in 2003.

The Group donated US$534,000 to India and US$150,000 each to the authorities in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka following the tsunami that hit Southeast Asia in December 2004. It also provided US$370,000 worth of free vehicle repairs and parts supply to the affected nations, while 5,000 local Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group employees and dealers joined in the relief effort.
