대한민국 유일의 “크리스마스 자선열차 ”

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--따뜻함이 그리워지는 계절, 사랑이 필요한 이웃에게 작은 도움을 줄 수 있는 의미있는 행사를 밀레니엄 서울힐튼에서 주관한다. 밀레니엄 서울힐튼이 매년 연말 진행하고 있는 자선 사업 중의 하나인 크리스마스 자선 열차가 11월 21일(일)부터 시작된다.

연말연시를 맞아 밀레니엄 서울힐튼 1층 로비 중앙에는 10미터 높이의 대형 크리스마스 트리가 장식되며, 알프스 산골 마을의 풍경으로 꾸며지는 지하 1층 분수대 주위에는 미국인 디자이너와 전문 엔지니어가 함께 만든 크리스마스 자선 열차가 전자동 시스템에 의해 전시 기간동안 쉬지 않고 운행된다. 올해로 아홉번째를 맞이하게 되는 이번 전시회에는 빠른 속도로 달리는 고속열차, 터널, 다리를 건너 운행하는 화물 열차 등 다양하고 깜찍한 모양의 열차 120여대가 전시 기간 내내 후원사의 로고를 달고 운행하게 된다. 자선 열차로 조성되는 수익금 전액은 복지시설에 전달할 예정이다.

크리스마스 열차라는 데서 착안하여 역무원 복장을 한 직원의 발차 신호와 함께 시작되는 크리스마스 트리 점등식과 자선 열차 발차식은 11월21일(일) 오후 4시부터 일반 시민들이 참석한 가운데 진행될 예정이며, 전시회는 2005년 1월말까지 계속된다. 후덕한 모습의 산타클로스가 선물 보따리를 들고 등장하여 행사장을 찾은 어린이들과 함께 즉석에서 기념 사진 촬영도 한다.

어린이 뿐만 아니라 어른들에게도 순수한 동심의 세계로 향수를 불러 일으키고 색다른 볼거리를 제공함과 동시에 주변의 이웃들과 따뜻한 온정을 나누게 될 밀레니엄 서울힐튼 크리스마스 자선 열차는 열린 공간으로 개방되어 누구든지 자유롭게 감상하고 즐길 수 있다. 또한, 가족, 친구, 연인과 함께 크리스마스 트리와 모형 열차를 배경으로 찍은 한 장의 사진을 추억으로 간직하기에도 더없이 좋은 장소가 될 것이다.

ALL ABOARD THE 2004 HILTON CHRISTMAS TRAIN

4 November 2004, Seoul, Korea… It’s getting to be that time of year again – the happiest time of year! And to usher in the Christmas spirit and Yuletide joy, the Millennium Seoul Hilton will unveil its Christmas Tree and ever-popular Christmas Train on Sunday, November 21.

An impressive 10-meter Christmas Tree will stand in the center of the grand main lobby, welcoming guests to the Millennium Seoul Hilton and warming people’s hearts with Christmas cheer. In the first floor basement, designers and engineers have been working together to recreate a miniature village in the Alps, complete with snow-capped mountains, tunnels, wooden bridges and hot air balloons. The highlight, of course, for both children and adults who are young at heart, is the Christmas Train, a collection of over 120 exquisitely handcrafted locomotives and railroad cars that will chug its way through the little village.

The Christmas Train represents a time-honored tradition at the Millennium Seoul Hilton. Now in its ninth year, the unveiling of the Christmas Train marks, for many, the start of the Christmas season, much like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade does in New York. The spirit of Christmas is also remembered as domestic and international companies are invited to sponsor railroad cars. All proceeds are then distributed to Hyeshimwon Orphanage.

The Christmas Train will first pull out of its station at 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 21. Everyone is invited to attend this exciting and momentous event as the train whistle blows and the miniature train makes its way along the tracks.

Santa Claus will also make a special appearance on this day. This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your family to take a picture with Kris Kringle himself! So, bring your family and friends and celebrate the Christmas Season, goodwill and peace at the Millennium Seoul Hilton! The Christmas train, tree and village will be on display until January 2005.
