Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--ICAO offers aviation English education in North Korea to open the sky way between South Korea and North Korea

To open the sky way between South and North Korea, an English education project is being promoted for the civil aviation pilots of North Korea.

Ren Cormier, the Chief Technical Advisor Flight Operations Expert, COSCAP-North Asia of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), made an MOU with G-TELP Korea, an English speaking ability test institute, to provide English program solutions and instructors for the English education of North Korea’s civil aviation pilots, and made an agreement with Kim, Bong Hyun, the Deputy Director of Foreign Cooperation Bureau of North Korea .

The aviation language education center support project is ICAO’s support business for countries, like Mongolia and North Korea, where civil aviation business can be improved further. The project is expected to help assess and educate relevant personnel of North Korea’s civil aviation through Korea’s superior English assessment and education programs. An edu-game solution manufacturer, TOEICNET Co., Ltd and Plan T Language School will participate in the project.

Last March 2003, the revised bill covering the international standards for the assessment of aviation language speaking ability (Annex1,6,10,11 and PANS-ATM) was adopted and became effective, and the Aviation Act of Korea has also been revised in December 2005. Thus, all the civil aviation pilots and controllers all over the world should prove their English speaking abilities while performing international aviation transportation services starting March 5, 2008 as an international regulation of the ICAO. In line with this, ICAO lends its support by establishing Aviation Language Assessment and Education centers in Pyongyang and Mongolia.

This Pyongyang Aviation Education Center Establishment program will be implemented in phases. In the first phase of the project, the establishment of the education center and online English education program organization will cover not only aviation language but also general English education content, English education games and other business spoken English. The second phase of the project aims to establish online remote assessment and learning systems connecting Seoul and Pyongyang by establishing CBT solutions for the aviation language tests and online video lecture systems. In the third phase of the project, the promotion of direct education programs by dispatching aviation English instructors of South Korea to the North is planned.
