Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--LG Electronics (LG), a leader in consumer electronics and mobile communications, announced that the company offers a full line of 2M pixel full HDTV.

LG has now launched 37- and 42-inch 2M pixel LCD HDTV with twice the resolution of normal HDTVs. With this launch, LG now offers a full line of LCD HDTV. Previously, the company launched a 47- and a 55-inch model. Starting from Korea, the full line-up will be expanded to US and European market in the first quarter of 2007.

LG’s full HDTV features a 2M pixel, 1,920 x 1,080p, resolution which is twice that of existing 1M pixel 1,366 x 768 HDTV, and three times higher than standard definition TVs. Full HDTV can display high resolution 1080p programming at full quality. The popularity of 2M pixel HDTV is expected to grow rapidly as next generation content and formats including Blu-ray Disc and HD-DVD players, advanced game consoles, and other devices capable of outputting a 2M pixel signals come to market.

Mr. Sang Han Yoon, Executive Vice President of LG Electronics and CEO of Digital Display Company, said: “LG’s full line- of full HDTV with built-in DVRs will showcase how far LG’s flat panel TVs have advanced.”

LG Flat TVs features Buit-in DVR and Full HD screens

LG plans to place its 2M pixel HDTV with built-in digital video recorders (DVR) at the center of its marketing strategy for flat panel TVs. These TVs are equipped with 250 GB hard disks, automatically record two hours of video for instant playback, and can store a maximum of 92 hours of video.

TVs with built-in DVRs enable users to record the live programs and watch them again - in part or in whole. Sports fans can create their own instant replays during live games, and movie buffs can pause movies on TV to make more popcorn.

These LG TVs have the ability to display 5.4 trillion colors and a 5000:1 contrast ratio, creating exceptionally natural-looking images. The 6ms response time reduces motion blur in action movies or sports.

Full HDTV offers a great value with twice the resolution of normal HDTV and only a 10% price premium. The company introduced its first 1M pixel HDTV, a 64-inch projection model, in 1999.

Future Prospect

DisplaySearch, a global market research company, foresees high sales growth for full HD LCD TVs. They are expected to make up 48 percent (approximately 23 million units) of the total market for 37-inch and larger LCD TVs in 2010. DisplaySearch also expects that sales of TVs following the 42-inch standard (37-, 42-, and 47-inch), used by LG, will exceed sales of TVs following the 40-inch standard (40- and 46-inch). This year, TVs in the 42-inch group are expected to sell 4.2 million units, while TVs in the 40-inch group are expected to sell 2.9 million units. This is expected to increase to 24 million and 20 million units respectively in 2010.
