Taiwan--(뉴스와이어)--Based on DRAMeXchange’s latest research, the worldwide DRAM Makers sales revenue for the second quarter in 2006 increased 15.5%, compared to the first quarter (Table 1). This can be mainly attributed by the continuing ramp up by Taiwan DRAM makers, and the increased average sales price, driven by the tight supply of DDR and DDR2 in the 2nd quarter. In terms of the sales revenue (including foundry business), Samsung still remains as the No.1 DRAM maker, where it holds a 24.8% market share. The second largest market share belongs to Qimonda, a spinoff from Infineon Technologies.

In terms of the overall growth, the newly increased global capacity in the 2nd quarter was mainly contributed by Taiwan DRAM makers---PowerChip and ProMOS . As the duo also collaborates respectively with Japan’s Elpida and Korea’s Hynix, their strategic alliances have produced a more evident sales revenue growth.

Revenue Ranking of Own-brand DRAM: In order to further understand the industry’s actual sales figures (the repeated calculated revenue from foundry business are not included), a graph delineating the revenue of each respective own-brand DRAM manufacturer was also drawn out. Results show that the ranking for the top 5 makers remain unchanged. But for the listing of the next 5 companies (excluding foundry business), some variations can be seen.

In terms of how the sales revenue is distributed globally, Korean manufacturers still acquire the largest market share, reaching 41.9%, while Taiwan DRAM makers come in second, accounting for 17.9%. As Samsung, Hynix, Micron and other relevant companies focus on Flash, CMOS Image Sensor and so forth in their product lineup; only Taiwan DRAM makers are seen expanding their DRAM production capacity in 2007. Therefore, its sales revenue ratio is expected to continue growing in the future.
