Outcomes of the ROK-Israel foreign ministers' talks

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Song Min-soon held the ROK-Israel Foreign Ministers' Talks with Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Tzipi Livni at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on January 16, and had a wide-range of discussions on issues of mutual interest including bilateral pending issues and regional situations.

The two ministers took this opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between the ROK and Israel, the possibility of holding an ROK-Israel joint economic committee and a joint committee on science and technology, ways to promote cooperation in the high-tech industry, R&D and science/technology, ways to promote tourist exchanges and safety measures for overseas nationals, cooperation in international organizations, and Korea's bid to host the World Expo in Yeosu. They also discussed recent situations on the Korean Peninsula and in the Middle East, and agreed to make joint efforts to further expand and develop bilateral ties.

The ROK and Israel reaffirmed the importance of deep interest and support by the international community, including the directly concerned parties, for peace and stability of the Middle East region regarding the Israel-Palestine issue and the situation in Iraq, among others.
