LG to Charm 3GSM World Congress 2007 with Premium Handsets
At the 3GSM World Congress 2007, LG will showcase striking new mobile phones with revolutionary technical features and luxurious designs under their theme “Born to Shine: the Shining Moments in Your Life.” LG’s booth will feature its stunning new handset, the Shine Phone, with its real metal and mirrored style. This new phone is the second installment of LG’s premium Black Label series, and is expected to be another multimillion seller like last year’s hit Chocolate Phone.
LG will also bring another premium masterpiece to Spain. LG’s collaboration with fashion house PRADA has yielded PRADA Phone by LG, which defines a new category of mobile phones with its innovative touch screen technology and prestigious style.
LG and Nortel will also demonstrate Long Term Evolution (LTE), a nearly-4G technology, which features data transfers at twice the speed of HSDPA. LG will display its second commercialized HSDPA phone and also showcase its HSPA (HSDPA, HSUPA), WiMAX and mobile broadcasting (DVB-H, MediaFLO and DMB) during the event.
“In 2006, LG established its reputation in the world market with the Chocolate Phone,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President & CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The European market is experiencing rapid growth in the demand for products with the latest technology and trendy designs, making it a vital market for mobile phone manufacturers.
“LG will make another leap forward as a premium brand in the mobile industry at this event, as we will introduce both the Shine Phone, the second model in our Black Label series, as well as PRADA Phone by LG,” added Dr. Ahn. “These two models show how LG is continually innovating so we can create the best possible customer experience.”
LG will host a press conference at 13:30 on Monday, 12 February 2007, titled “LG’s Global Mobile Business Plan and Its Premium Handsets” at the Press Conference room in the Media Centre of Fira Hall 2.
Highlights of LG’s participation at the 3GSM World Congress 2007 include:
Shine (KE970): The feature-rich, slim LG Shine Phone is designed with a sophisticated, yet highly trendy “styled in metal” concept. It is super-slim handset with a trendy mirrored LCD front that magically transforms into a high-quality color screen when the phone is activated. The super-slim and sleek design belies its high-tech functionality which includes a 2.0 mega-pixel camera and a convenient scroll key function on the front.
chocolate (KG800): LG’s simple yet stylish KG800 slider, known as the Chocolate Phone, is a work of art both in terms of looks and features. It has won numerous prestigious awards for its unique style and user satisfaction. Both its display and touch keypad fade out of sight when not in use. It is the first handset from LG’s Black Label series of design-led mobile phones, aimed at users who value style as highly as they value technology. LG offers its Chocolate Phone in four colours · white, pink and red wine · in addition to its original black. Other available models of the Chocolate phone include a 3G WCDMA version, a luxury version with engraved gold or platinum bands and a clamshell version.
KS10: With a large 2.4” QVGA screen, the KS10 is a smartphone which includes full internet browsing capability. Using high speed internet browsing through HSDPA at 1.8Mbps, this model allows high quality streaming TV. The KS10 - which can record browsed pages, sort, capture web pictures, zoom in and out on web pages, search for keywords - and has a built-in MP3 player - is perfect for internet-savvy users who also value multimedia functions.
KU950: LG’s KU950, Digital Video Broadcasting Handheld (DVB-H), builds on the company’s wireless technological leadership that was behind the world’s first UMTS (WCDMA)-based HSDPA/DVB-H phone. The phone features a mobile TV receiver with wide-swing screen and comes with almost every feature for a traditional home-bound TV/VCR: program recording, screen capture and even the ability to watch TV and talk on the phone at the same time. It provides fast video streaming through its 1.8Mbps HSDPA capabilities.
KU250: A sleek, slim and feature-rich 3G handset, was chosen this year for the GSM Association’s “3G for All” campaign by a consortium of the 12 largest mobile operators. LG’s new 3G bar-type phone makes it possible for customers to access a wide variety of wireless multimedia services -including video clips, audio files and other content -in less time and at a reasonable price. A supporting external memory slot makes the phone perfect for playing video and music. Its multi-tasking capability also let customers use the phone without turning off the music.
The 3GSM World Congress is the world's largest exhibition for the mobile industry, featuring mobile operators, vendors and content owners from across the world. Last year, over 50,000 people attended the event.
