Vice Minister to Attend the 63rd UNESCAP Annual High Level Meeting

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Cho Jung-pyo will attend the 63rd Annual High Level Meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific(UNESCAP) which will be held in Almaty, Kazakhstan on May 21-23.

In his keynote speech, Vice Minister Cho will evaluate the commission’s active involvement in regional development since its establishment 60 years ago, and present ways for UNESCAP to make further contributions in the 21st century when many kinds of tasks and challenges lie ahead. He will also attend the Ministerial Roundtable on “Development of Health Systems in the Context of Enhancing Growth Towards Achieving the Millennium Development Goals in Asia & the Pacific,” and introduce the policies and experiences of the ROK government in regard of the national medical insurance system.

Along with his participation at the UNESCAP conference, Vice Minister Cho will hold a bilateral meeting with the vice foreign ministers of Thailand and Kazakhstan and discuss the pending issues. Also, he plans to hold talks with the Executive Secretary of UNESCAP Mr. Kim Hak-soo, who will end his term in office on June 30th.
