Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, Right Honourable Winston Raymond Peters, will pay an official visit to the Republic of Korea from July 25 to 28. During his visit, Minister Peters will pay a courtesy call on the President, participate in the ROK-New Zealand Foreign Ministers' Talks, and hold meetings with the Chairman of the Unification, Foreign Affairs and Trade Committee of the National Assembly as well as the Minister of Unification.

During the ROK-New Zealand Foreign Ministers' Talks, which will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on the morning of July 27, the two foreign ministers will review the progress made so far in implementing the matters in the Joint Statement adopted at the summit talks in December 2006. They include such issues as cooperation in science and technology, film and cultural exchanges and education. The two foreign ministers will also exchange views on various issues of mutual concern such as the North Korean nuclear issue and regional cooperation.

The visit of Minister Peters to the ROK is a part of annual exchange of visits between the foreign ministers of the two countries as agreed upon in the Joint Statement on a Partnership for the 21st Century, which was announced during President Roh Moo-hyun's state visit to New Zealand in December last year. It is expected to provide an important opportunity to further strengthen substantial cooperation between the two countries.
