EAS/ASEAN+3/PMC/ARF Foreign Ministers' Meetings

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--The East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers' Meeting, the ASEAN+3 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, the ASEAN Post Ministerial Conference (PMC) and the ARF Foreign Ministers' Meeting will be held in Manila, the Philippines, from July 3 to August 2, 2007.

-Minister Song Min-soon will only attend the ARF Foreign Ministers' Meeting: Deputy Minister for International Organizations and Global Issues, Park In-kook will attend the EAS/ASEAN+3/ASEAN PMC as Acting Foreign Minister.

At the working luncheon of the EAS Foreign Ministers on July 31, the foreign ministers plan to discuss follow-up measures of the 2nd EAS Summit and the future direction of the EAS. At the ASEAN+3 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, Acting Minister Park plans to explain our Government's position on recent developments regarding the North Korean nuclear issue, including the outcomes of the Six-Party Heads of Delegation Talks, and introduce the progress made in the cooperation project which had been proposed by the ROK at the ASEAN+3 Summit held in Cebu, the Philippines, in January this year.

At the ASEAN PMC on August 1, the participating foreign ministers are expected to discuss major global and regional issues such as energy, security, climate changes and disaster management.

Minister Song Min-soon will attend the 14th ARF Foreign Ministers' Meeting on August 2, where he will explain the recent security status in the Northeast Asian region and developments at the Six-Party Talks and in inter-Korean relations, and declare our Government's position on the future direction of the ARF.

The ROK also plans to hold bilateral foreign ministers' talks with a number of countries on the sidelines of these meetings.
