Taiwan--(뉴스와이어)--Total manufacturers’ MB shipment dropped two months in a row during the months of April and May, as Q2 has traditionally been the slow quarter of the year. However, we saw a significant increase during the month of June to pave the way for the summer sales season. Overall, Q2 shipment is estimated at 38M, an increase of 15.6% over the same period last year but a decrease of 4.3% compared to Q1 this year. According to a recent study from DRAMeXchange, first half of 2007 has seen a growth of over 10% compared to 1H06, and, apparently, PC market demand is relatively stronger this year especially in the channel customer segment compared to OEM customers.

In light of the decent performance in 1H07, manufacturers are optimistic about the traditionally strong second half. Overall market should pick up following introduction of cheaper CPUs and chipsets from Intel and AMD in addition to the maturing Vista OS platform.

On the other hand, economic growth in emerging market such as China and India has continued to show impressive performance during 1H07. Subsequently, demand for PCs is growing rapidly with the continue price cut in PC prices and increased performance to satisfy the average needs. The stimulated consumer demand from these emerging markets is expected to contribute to the overall PC market growth. DRAMeXchange estimates 3Q07shipment will be 44M units, a growth of 13.1% over same time last year or a 15.8% over last quarter, while total shipment for 2007 is estimated at 169M, a growth of 11.3% over 2006.
