Minister Meets Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates Hamdan

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Minister Song Min-soon had talks over luncheon with the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates(UAE) Hamdan bin Zayed Al-Nahyan at his official residence on September 11. They discussed ways to promote cooperation in areas such as investment, development of alternative energy, defense industry, regional issues, and the Korean corporations’ business activities in the UAE.

Minister Song acknowledged that the ROK-UAE relations are stronger than ever, through consistent implementation of the ‘Comprehensive Economic Cooperation between Korea and the UAE,’ which was agreed between the two nations when President Roh Moo-hyun paid a visit to the UAE in May, 2006. In particular, Minister Song asked for the Deputy Prime Minister’s special attention and support for having the Korean corporations participate in major projects of the UAE.

Deputy Prime Minister Hamdan said that UAE leaders including President Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan have vast interest in strengthening collaborative ties with Korea, and that the UAE would like to expand bilateral cooperation in all areas, particularly in investment between Korean and the UAE corporations.

Minister Song explained the need for establishing an organization for the increase of Korea-Middle East cooperation, as well as for further understanding of the Islamic nations. Deputy Prime Minister Hamdan also stressed the importance of promoting exchanges and cooperation between Korea and the Islamic nations.
