Vice Minister Cho Jung-pyo Meets the Director for the Institute for Strategic Studies of Kazakhstan

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Vice Minister Cho Jung-pyo met with the Director for the Institute for Strategic Studies of Kazakhstan Sultanov Bulat on September 10, Monday, who is currently on a visit to Korea from September 6 to 11. They exchanged views on ways to promote bilateral cooperation.

Vice Minister Cho assessed the bilateral cooperation between the ROK and Kazakhstan in areas of energy and resources, construction, finance, and information technology since their establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992. He asked for support in our corporations’ active participation in business in Kazakhstan.

Also, Vice Minister Cho explained that the First Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum is to be held in Seoul in mid-November, and asked Mr. Sultanov’s support and concern for the success of the forum. In return, Mr. Sultanov stated that he had high hopes that this forum will be an important occasion for the development of the ROK-Kazakhstan relations, and promised the active participation of Kazakhstan.

Director Sultanov introduced the diversifying policies of the government of Kazakhstan, and expressed his hopes for strengthening bilateral cooperation between the ROK and Kazakhstan in non-energy areas such as agriculture and construction, as well as establishing petroleum and chemical complex for creating jobs and industrializing Kazakhstan.

Vice Minister Cho asked for Kazakhstan’s support for our bid to host the 2012 World Expo in Yeosu, and Director Sultanov agreed to deliver our position to the government of Kazakhstan.
