The Korea-Central America Trade and Investment Forum to be Held
This forum will be co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the SICA Secretariat and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Honduras. The Korean delegation will consist of representatives of the MOFAT, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Korea Chemical Fibers Association and Korean companies in Central America. The representatives of the SICA Secretariat and the governments of 8 SICA member countries as well as businesspersons of SICA will also attend the forum.
On November 26, the participants will focus their discussions on the following issues of mutual interest: progress in the pursuit of a tariff alliance of Central America; ways to promote trade and investment cooperation between Korea and Central America; and the development of the Central American textile industry and ways to promote exports to America. After that, there will be a conference on investment and imports/exports participated by businesspersons of Korea and 8 SICA member countries. On November 27, there will be a presentation on the trade and investment environment of Honduras, followed by a tour of major industrial facilities of Honduras and a conference among businesspersons on investment and exports.
It is hoped that this forum would provide a useful opportunity to enhance Korean businesspersons' understanding of the trade and investment environment of Central America and diversify Korea's trade and investment vis-a-vis Central America by establishing a network of cooperation with businesspersons of the SICA member countries.
