‘Asian X Games 2005 presented by Kia’ Coming to Korea
Presented this year by Kia Motors, a dynamic new sponsor with global brand appeal, and hosted in Seoul, Asia’s most cutting-edge urban centre, the event marks the seventh X Games competition to be held in Asia since 1998.
Presenting sponsor Kia and host city Seoul are set to add new chemistry to an already potent mix of energy and action. The competition course will once again feature the perennial favourites of Aggressive In-line Skating, Skateboard, Bicycle Stunt, Sport Climbing, Wakeboarding and MotoX.
The athletes will be competing for over USD110,000 in prize money and bragging rights as top dog in all of Asia. Admission to the event is free.
At the press conference held on Feb.1, the Mayor of Seoul City welcomed the latest word-class sporting event to choose the Korean capital as host. “Through the FIFA World Cup and Olympics we have proven our ability to host world-class events, and now with the Asian X Games 2005 presented by Kia poised to hit the streets of Seoul, our aim is to remind the world that Seoul is an exciting city.”
“We’re honored that the City of Seoul and Kia Motors have chosen to join with us to bring the X Games to Korea,” said Harvey Davis, Director of International X Games. “Their involvement lends prestige to the event and is a testimony to the worldwide popularity of the X Games.
The event is set to ignite the streets of Seoul with talk of world-renowned athletes. Action will take place both inside and near the Jamsil Indoor Stadium on purpose-built ramps designed and constructed by the best in the business.
Not Just About Action on the Ramps
The Asian X Games will have something for everybody. You can see action on the vert ramp, back flips on the MotoX big air jump, the hottest new Hip Hop act on the main stage, Kia’s latest line-up of vehicles, or sponsors’ games and activities all at one event.
For fans who miss the show in person, MBC-ESPN and MBC will be airing a selection of the best action on both live and delayed basis.
“Drawing on the extensive action sports experience that ESPN brings to the table and our exceptional production standards, MBC-ESPN is looking forward to treating viewers to the most explosive sports and entertainment event ever staged in Seoul,” says Mr. Chang Keung-Bok, Managing Director of MBC ESPN.
More than 200 hours of TV, across both cable and terrestrial platforms, will be generated from the event with footage reaching over 160 million homes worldwide via ESPN and its affiliates.
