Looming Price corrections on Monitor and NB panels in 1HDec

Taiwan--(뉴스와이어)--In light of the sufficient monitor and NB panel inventory for the year-end Christmas season, downstream clients are cutting the amount of orders since November. Some Tier 1 brand vendors had even requested panel makers to cut their panel prices in November. Prices ultimately remained firm, due to concerns of a possible panel shortage in 2008. However, this will unlikely be the scenario for December, as the price pressure grows.

According to WitsView's survey, price negotiations are currently ongoing between the buyers and sellers. The final price may not be apparent until the month's end. But for the first half of December, panel makers are at least expected to reasonably adjust their panel prices. With only a third of the quarter left, the market demand for monitor and NB panels are evidently falling. In addition, with the respective price levels already at a high point, a 2%~4% price decline is projected in December. Meanwhile, in the TV segment, the persisting strong demand will help underpin current price levels. Nevertheless, further observations should be made on whether the inventory levels in China's retailers start to increase. In addition, amid the continued ramp up of the 7.5G and 8G lines, and a more sufficient TV capacity brought forth by the IT panel demand slowdown, an oversupply in the TV panel segment may possibly occur in the coming months.

The panel prices for 1HDec will be released by WitsView on December 5th.
