Outcomes of the Korea-Jordan Ministerial Talks

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Minister Song Min-soon, currently on a visit to the Middle East, had Korea-Jordan Ministerial Talks on December 1 and attended the luncheon hosted by Jordanian Foreign Minister Al-Bashir. The two ministers noted that the cooperative relations have continued between Korea and Jordan, and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest including ways to further promote bilateral ties.

Minister Song and Minister Al-Bashir shared views on a wide range of issues including the Middle East Peace Summit in Annapolis which was held on November 27, and situations in the Middle East, the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia. In particular, Minister Song acknowledged King Abdullah’s efforts to make headway in the Middle East peace process, and his role in producing successful outcomes at the Annapolis Conference. Minister Song explained the progress of the Six-party Talks and the outcomes of the recent inter-Korean summit, and Minister Al-Bashir expressed the Jordanian government’s support for settling peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Minister Al-Bashir asked for Korea’s support in the economic development of Jordan, and expressed hopes to share Korea’s experiences. Minister Song explained the Korean government’s economic assistance policies for developing countries, and stated that there will be aid on necessary areas for Jordan.

Minister Song stressed on the efforts of the Korean government on promoting Korea-Middle East cooperative ties, and explained plans to establish the ‘Middle East Society’ to this end. Minister Al-Bashir welcomed the endeavors of the Korean government, and expressed the Jordanian government’s will to actively participate in the Middle East Society and the 5th Korea-Middle East Cooperation Forum to be held on December 7 in Seoul.

Minister Song asked for King Abdullah’s state visit to Korea, and Minister Al-Bashir mentioned that he would seek the opportune time to do so in 2008.
