Outcomes of the High-level Meeting on the Sidelines of the 5th Korea-Middle East Cooperation Forum

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Minister Song Min-soon had bilateral talks with Moroccan State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Mr. Ahmed Lakhrif and Omani Minister for National Economy Mohammed Al-Kashibi on the sidelines of the 5th Korea-Middle East Cooperation Forum held in Seoul on December 7. They exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, and Minister Song asked Secretary Lakhrif and Minister Al-Kashibi for support their governments’ for the establishment of the Middle East Society next year.

During his talks with Secretary Lakhrif, Minister Song stated that although Yeosu was chosen as the venue for the World Exposition in 2012 at the General Assembly of the BIE in Paris, Korea had to try for the second time to do so. He delivered words of encouragement that there will be another good opportunity for Tangier next time. Secretary Lakhrif wished for success of the World Expo 2012 in Yeosu.

Minister Song and Secretary Lakhrif noted the increase of cooperative exchanges between Korea and Morocco in areas of politics, economy, culture, etc. since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1969. They both expected further increase of bilateral trade and investment, taking potentials for further cooperation into account.

During his talks with Minister Al-Kashibi of Oman, Minister Song expressed appreciation for Oman’s steady provision of gas and other energy resources, and hoped for the expansion of bilateral cooperation in many areas beyond the current ones. Also, Minister Song agreed to share Korea’s experiences and know-how of economic development regarding various development projects that the Omani government is promoting.
