The 2nd Korean Overseas Volunteers Awards

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--The 2nd Korean Overseas Volunteers Awards will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on December 10, 2007, which will be attended by Foreign Minister Song Min-soon. The Korean Overseas Volunteers Awards is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and co-hosted by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Korea NGO Council for Overseas Cooperation (KCOC).

Minister Song Min-soon will present the Presidential Award, the Prime Minister's Awards and the Foreign Minister's Awards. In his congratulatory remarks, he will commend their noble contributions which have promoted the national prestige of Korea with the spirit of sacrifice and service. The awarding ceremony will be followed by a video presentation of volunteer activities of the awardees and a reception, along with an exhibition of photographs of international cooperation projects.

11 Korean overseas volunteers who worked in all parts of the world including Bangladesh, Viet Nam, Timor-Leste, Senegal and Guatemala, have been selected this year for the awards.

The Government of the Republic of Korea has been presenting the awards for Korean overseas volunteers since last year to encourage their devoted efforts to eradicate poverty and diseases, the greatest common tasks for mankind, and to enhance the understanding of the Korean people and promote their participation and support for the Official Development Assistance (ODA) for the economic and social development of developing countries.
