Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Prudential Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. (PISC) (CEO Chung Jinho) announced that starting December 14 (Fri), PISC will sell to individual and institutional investors a new product named “Prudential Southeast Asia Equity Fund,” which invests in the Southeast Asian equity markets with attractive growth.

“Prudential Southeast Asia Fund” is managed by Prudential Asset Management Co., Ltd. (PAMC) and sub-advised to UOB Asset Management. The fund seeks capital gains in the mid- to long-term by investing primarily in stocks listed on the Southeast Asian equity markets or issued by the Southeast Asian companies. The fund attributes are as follows.

First, “Prudential Southeast Asia Equity Fund” invests in the Southeast Asian countries with strong growth supported by robust consumption, stable domestic demand and economic reform. Major countries include Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. Economic growth of Southeast Asia is driven by commodities and natural resources that stand as the main pillar and domestic and global political conditions have been stabilizing gradually. Moreover, Southeast Asia is expected to record strong growth going forward with expanded private investment based on corporate financial restructuring, robust M&A activities, and large youth population of less than 15 years old accounting for 30 percent of the total population.

Second, the product offers the Korean investors attractive opportunities to diversify their portfolios globally by investing in the Southeast Asian equity markets that have low correlations with the Korean and Chinese equity markets.

Third, “Prudential Southeast Asia Fund” is sub-advised to UBO Asset Management with local access, excellent network in emerging markets and global expertise. Since 1996, UOB Asset Management has won 87 prizes for managing funds investing in domestic & global markets and global sectors and has broad investment capabilities with approximately 18.5 billion dollars in assets under management.

“Prudential Southeast Asia Equity Fund” is constructed under the mother-feeder structure. Net Asset Value (NAV) of the mother fund is denominated in the US dollar and the feeder fund is available in two types·with and without currency hedging against the US dollar, the currency used to denominate the mother fund NAV. The fund offers different choices for investors to respond to the currency market conditions as they can switch between the two feeder fund types. However, currency hedge between various Southeast Asian currencies and the US dollar is not carried out even for the fund type hedged against the US dollar. There is no minimum investment amount and Regular Savings Plan investment is possible.

“Prudential Southeast Asia Equity Fund” is a fund that helps the Korean investors diversify their portfolios globally by investing in the Southeast Asian markets that have relatively low correlations with the Chinese and Korean equity markets,” said Lee Chang-hoon, CEO of PAMC.
