Outcomes of Talks between Acting Foreign Minister and the Turkmenian Minister of Oil, Gas and Mineral Resources

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Acting Foreign Minister Cho Jung-pyo had talks with Turkmenian Minister of Oil, Gas and Mineral Resources Hojamuhamedov who is currently paying a visit to Korea on December 18, and exchanged views on ways to promote substantial cooperation between Korea and Turkmenistan.

Acting Minister Cho noted that the 1st Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum held in Seoul on November 2007 and the establishment of Korean embassy in Turkmenistan this year have contributed to the development of bilateral relations. He asked for support of the Turkmenian government to strengthen cooperative ties in areas of bilateral trade and investment, exchange of high-level officials, and promotion of Korean companies’ business activities in energy and resources projects of Turkmenistan. Acting Minister Cho also asked the Turkmenian government to render support for the ethnic Koreans in Turkmenistan.

Minister Hojamuhamedov explained the national development plan of the Turkmenian government such as energy and resources development, and expressed hopes for the Korean companies to participate in oil and gas development projects, as well as in areas of textile industry and petrochemical complex construction. Minister Hojamuhamedov will leave Korea on December 19 after his visit to the Ulsan petrochemical complex.
