Weak seasonal factor kicks in as market enters 1Q08t

Taiwan--(뉴스와이어)--Amid panel makers' effective controls on the production utilization rate, which led to a tighter panel supply, prices ultimately trended upwards. The rising prices allowed them to experience a major turnaround in their sales and profits for 2007. Looking into 2008, due to the limited capacity increases, and the huge demand for TVs will likely be spurred by the Beijing Olympics, the outlook toward the TFT LCD market outlook is upbeat.

According to WitsView's panel price survey for 1HJan, due to the Chinese Lunar New Year holidays, the number of working days will be fewer in February. Downstream clients will be prompted to stock up a sufficient amount of inventory during January, thus resulting in a stable amount of shipments. However, Monitor and NB panel prices are still expected to drop by 2~3%, as seen in December. In the TV panel segment, given the demand from the Chinese Lunar New Year, prices for the 37W and below will stay flat. Meanwhile, the ramp up of the G7.5 and G8, along with the weak seasonality becoming stronger, prices for the 40" and above will drop more evidently in further stimulating the market demand. Beginning from February, the overall panel demand is expected to decline more sharply.

The panel prices for 1HJan will be released by WitsView on January 7th.
