Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Minister Song Min-soon received a courtesy call of Colonel Kang Chan-ok, the new chief of the Dongmyong Unit dispatched to the UNIFIL (UN Interim Force in Lebanon) in Lebanon in Seoul on January 7. He delivered words of encouragement and asked the peacekeepers in the unit to keep making contribution to the maintenance of peace in the region.

Comprised of roughly 350 soldiers, the Dongmyong Unit, part of the UNIFIL, was dispatched to the southern Tyre in Lebanon in July 2007 for reconnaissance, civil operations, and supporting the Lebanese Army.

The Dongmyong Unit has been focusing on a civil operation titled ‘Peace of Wave’ and has successfully completed constructing a children’s park, building the Shabria Bridge, and remodeling a school in the region. They also render medical treatments to about 1,800 local residents. The Dongmyong Unit is continuously supporting the Lebanese Army by providing them with SUV vehicles and by paving the road.
