Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--The 8th Korea-Oman Policy Consultation Meeting will be held in Seoul on January 30, with Director-General Ma Young-sam of the African and Middle Eastern Affairs Bureau of the MOFAT and Director-General Salim Al-Rayami of the East Asia Department of the Omani Foreign Ministry as heads of the delegations, respectively.

Since the first meeting in Muscat, Oman, in 1991, the Korea-Oman Policy Consultation Meeting has served as a channel for discussions on ways to promote cooperation in areas of mutual interest including political affairs, economy and culture.

During the upcoming meeting, the two sides will discuss, among others, ways to strengthen economic cooperation between Korea and Oman, such as securing steady energy provision from the Sultanate including liquefied natural gas (LNG), and promoting the participation of Korean companies in various development projects in Oman. Also, there will be discussions on ways to enhance collaboration for the establishment of the ‘Middle-East Arab Society’ in Korea.

Oman, the 3rd largest supplier of LNG and the 7th largest provider of petroleum to Korea, has rendered continuous support to Korea on the international stage. The upcoming policy consultation meeting between the two countries is expected to serve not only as an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations, but also as an occasion to promote business activities of Korean companies in Oman.
