Taiwan--(뉴스와이어)--In the week of Mar. 18-24, the price of DDR2 eTT 1Gb led with a substantial gain of 5.6% during Mar 17-21, whereas the pricing of all other parts remained stable and the price fluctuation merely recorded within 1% range. The price of DDR2 eTT 512Mb stayed flat at US$0.83 and 1Gb up 1.8% to US$1.69 last week, while DDR2 667 512Mb dropped by 1.1% (to US$0.93) and 1Gb increased by 1.0% (to US$1.94).

DRAMeXchange believes that the price surge of DDR2 eTT 1Gb was more of a price correction (back to normality) because its price had dropped significantly during the first half of March. All prices of both eTT and branded chips are still hovering in the low range. Despite seeing a stabilizing trend in prices, seasonal downturn lulls transactions in spot market and memory module industry. Any price rebound does not necessarily imply an increasing demand in the industry.

2HMar contract price stays flat

In the contract market, DRAMeXchange analysts indicate that DRAM contract price stays flat in 2HMar, with price of DDR2 667 1GB DIMM averages at US$17.50. As OEMs are expected to introduce SP1 for their Vista systems in May, and that the 32bit Vista OS may possibly support 4GB memory, which means a potential boost for 4GB DIMM penetration. A surplus in parts is likely to ease accordingly.
