Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--The MOFAT will have the plate-hanging ceremony of the Center for Energy and Resources Cooperation between Korea and Latin America on May 9 in Seoul.

Related officials including 1st Vice Minister Kwon Jong-rak and Director-General of the Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau Doo Jung-soo will attend the ceremony.

The Center for Energy and Resources Cooperation between Korea and Latin America started as a ‘Center for Energy Resources Cooperation between Korea and South America,' which had been administered by the Korean Embassy in Argentine from 2006 to 2007. It was later moved to the MOFAT headquarters in April 2008 and was expanded to the current one.

The Center is to effectively support Korean companies in entering the energy and resources markets in Latin America. To this end, the MOFAT will promote ‘energy and resources diplomacy' under the close cooperation of Korean overseas missions in the region. The Center will also collect information on resources in this region, share the data with the Korean corporations and support researches of the relevant institutions on major resources.

In particular, the Center has recently set up ‘resources hotline' section on its website (energy.mofat.go.kr) in order to expeditiously answer the questions and requests for consultations of interested Korean companies, thus providing them with concrete solutions for their difficulties in the resources industry of Latin America.

The Center is expected to support the Korean companies' activities in the resources industry of Latin American countries more effectively through the close network among the Korean overseas missions, relevant organizations including government bodies and Korean enterprises.
