Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--There was an armed conflict between the Sudanese rebel group ‘Justice & Equality Movement' and the Sudanese government forces near the capital city of Khartoum on May 10. A number of casualties resulted from this engagement, and currently the Sudanese government army has taken control over the incident.

It has been confirmed that there are no damages done to the Koreans in Sudan. However, since a curfew has been imposed on several regions including Khartoum, it seems that it will take some time before things return to normal.

※ There are currently about 98 Koreans in Sudan

The MOFAT has classified Sudan as Travel-Alert Level 2 (Travel Refrained) or Travel-Alert Level 3 (Travel Restricted) Region, taking its unstable political situation into consideration.

The Koreans in Sudan are paying utmost heed to their safeties by refraining from moving to other places and checking upon the security measures of the Korean Embassy at all times. For those who had planned to visit Sudan, we ask you to refrain from going to the country for the time being.
