International Conference to launch the Korea-Arab Society to be Held

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--The international conference to launch the Korea-Arab Society (KAS) will be held on May 26 in Seoul. The KAS, a non-profit foundation established under collaboration of governments and private sectors of Korea and the Arab nations, is to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between the two sides.

Senior officials from the Korean government will attend the conference, along with about 200 personages from governments, businesses, academic, cultural and religious organizations of 22 Arab nations, including Sudanese President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir and Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh. The participants will have in-depth discussions on the partnership between Korea and the Arab nations..

During the conference, the Korea-Arab Cultural Forum and the Korea-Arab Business Forum will be held respectively: at the former, intensive discussions will be held on how to promote mutual understanding and expand cultural exchanges between Korea and the Arab nations; at the latter, participants will discuss how to facilitate the overall economic cooperation between the two side, particularly in the field of energy, construction and information technology.

The Korean government has had close consultations on the establishment of the KAS with the Arab nations through diplomatic channels. Welcoming the initiative to launch the Society, they expressed the willingness to actively participate in the establishment of the Society as well as to financial contribution. The KAS is expected to serve as the center for various exchange programs between Korea and the Arab world, as well as promote in-depth understanding and exchanges between the two sides alongside the current economic cooperation.
