AhnLab, provides mobile security solution for ‘T*OMNIA’
This serves to be a significant case in that smartphone security is provided amidst expectations of rising demand for smartphones with international companies launching new products.
'T*OMNIA' was jointly developed by Samsung, SK Telecom, and Microsoft, three of the top global IT companies. The Windows Mobile 6.1 based touch screen phone features exceptional performance,multimedia functions, sensible UI, and user friendly design.
'AhnLab Mobile Security' that runs on 'T*OMNIA' has been developed with AhnLab’s technology, including mobile security solutions for Symbian and Windows Mobile based smartphones. It features malicious code detection and removal, real-time monitoring of the handset and external memory, various scan settings, malicious code quarantine and log management, and other functions specified for mobile phones. Users can install 'AhnLab Mobile Security' from the installation CD provided with 'T*OMNIA' to detect and remove mobile viruses in real-time for secure use of wireless Internet.
AhnLab’s CEO Hongsun Kim pointed out, “The importance of smartphone security will grow along with the release of various smartphone platforms and operating systems. AhnLab will lead in creating a safe mobile environment based on the mobile security products we developed since since 2001.”
While there has not yet been any smartphone security threats in Korea, the importance of mobile security against malicious code, illegal phishing and other threats is increasing as mobile phone functions are advancing platforms and operating systems are diversifying.
After developing a security software, for one of the best-known PDA operating systems,; ‘Palm’ in 2001, AhnLab successfully developed mobile security solutions for the Korean wireless Internet platforms, WI-TOP and WI-PI, as well as Symbian and Windows Mobile, in 2003 and 2004, demonstrating the company’s internationally advanced technology in the mobile security field.
