LG Electronics Chief HR Officer Steps Down
Citing personal family reasons for stepping down, LG Electronics CEO Mr. Yong Nam reluctantly accepted Mr. Bull’s resignation. Mr. Bull will assist in the transition until the end of the month and will continue to serve as an outside consultant to LG for another six months to help transition in his successor. Senior Vice President Mr. Don-hyung Kang of LG’s Human Resource Department will serve as acting head of HR until the appointment of Mr. Bull’s successor is finalized.
In a letter to the CEO, Mr. Bull wrote, “As you already know, my wife underwent major surgery late last year from which she has been slowly recuperating. It has recently been confirmed that she must undergo more procedures in the months to come. Although we have explored many options, the only one that is truly practical is for my family to return permanently to the UK. I would like to warmly thank you and LG Electronics for your support throughout this difficult time. LG is truly commitment to ‘work-life balance’ and as such, I’m comforted in knowing that the company understands that there was only one choice in this matter.”
CEO Nam thanked Mr. Bull for his service and commitment to LG during a difficult time.
“Over the past several months Reg has been incredibly resilient in executing the responsibilities of his office while at the same time trying to cope with a difficult situation,” Mr. Nam said. “Reg has been an immense asset to LG Electronics during his brief time here as he has already opened the doors to a new era for LG as a global and multicultural organization. A British national, Mr. Bull was the first expatriate to hold the top HR position at LG and was tasked with overseeing all aspects of LG’s personnel policies and systems. Mr. Bull brought to LG more than 25 years of experience from Unilever’s HR department, where he was Senior Vice President of the company’s Global Human Resources Transformation responsible for more than 100 subsidiaries and 240,000 employees worldwide.
