Myung Soon Yoo Gives a lecture at ‘ The 16th Citi-Ewha Global Finance Academy’

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Myung Soon Yoo(Citibank Korea; Dept. Head of Global Transaction Services) gave a lecture at “ The 16th Citi-Ewha Global Finance Academy” to future financial experts. First, she discussed about global corporate banking, and then she talked about women’s leadership.

”Citi-Ewha Global Finance Academy” is CKI’s long-standing corporate citizenship initiative, designed to encourage and nurture prospective women bankers. CKI and Ewha Womans University had been nurturing future financial experts through sharing financial theory and various experiences in the field with the students.

Myung Soon Yoo, who graduated Ewha Womans University herself, told her juniors “As I see these student’s sincere and enthusiastic atmosphere, I feel more responsible to be a better senior.”

She also mentioned, “Citi respects individual’s diversity, and when Citi positions its employees, Citi does not discriminate gender. Also, Citi does not hesitate to invest on enriching women’s career development program .I was able to experience many fields, and accept more challenges due to Citi’s unique culture. This is one of the reasons how I was able to work for Citi for a long time. I was able to try various things at work thanks to warm guidance of my mentors and bosses. As you all may already know, most corporate does not discriminate their employees based on gender. They place their employees to the job position based on individual’s characteristics and talents, and how this will affect the company’s effectiveness and growth. Also, there are more and more successful women in political, financial, academic fields to help women to participate in the business world.”

When one of the students asked Myung Soon Yoo about the necessary skills and tactics a woman leader needs to have, she answered, “ It is partly true that women are more passive when they are given new opportunity then men. It might be because they are afraid to overcome their comfort zone. I used to be like that when I was young. I encouraged myself that even failing on something is already covered in my salary. If you are armed with sensitivity, capacity, and confidence everyone will like to work with you. These are the qualities for a successful leader.”

”Citi-Ewha Global Finance Academy” is a 12-week course held every semester. Twelve qualified volunteers from Citibank Korea Inc. - MBA graduates, or someone who has more than 15 years of experience within financial industry- give lectures on corporate banking, consumer banking, risk management, credit management, anti-money laundry, e-business, and etc. Funded by the Citi Foundation grant, more than 1,050 students have participated in the program since 2001. “ The 16th Citi-Ewha Global Finance Academy” is available to business undergraduate, graduate and MBA students.
