Citibank Korea launches campaign on ‘Secure Internet Banking’
As part of the campaign effort, CKI will distribute promotional poster and materials throughout local branches while providing instructions via phone banking and the bank’s website (www.citibank.co.kr) as well.
The bank said “Public Certificates, Security Card, Password and other security related data should not be stored in e-mail box or web hard to prevent sensitive personal information from being stolen or hijacked in the middle of internet banking transaction.”
CKI also recommended customers to replace the existing security card with OTP token to heighten security level of internet or phone banking while instructing customers to subscribe to Banking Transaction Messaging service which sends transaction details to customers’ mobile phone immediately after the transaction takes place.
It also told that customers with frequent financial transaction over phone or the internet should be more cautious and proactive on the control of security to protect themselves against any personal information theft attempts even considering recent nation-wide event of DDoS attack (Distributed Denial of Service).
