Micrel Pushes The Triple Play Envelope With New 2.5Gbps Single-Chip Transceiver For GEPON And GPON ONU/ONT Modules

San Jose, Calif.--(뉴스와이어)--Micrel Inc., (Nasdaq:MCRL), an industry leader in analog, high bandwidth communications and Ethernet IC solutions, is introducing the SY88236L/AL, a single supply 3.3V, 2.5Gbps integrated burst mode laser driver and post amplifier that targets GEPON and GPON ONU/ONT module applications. “Due to the increase in bandwidth demand for broadband services, such as VOIP, data, video and bundled services known as Triple Play, GEPON and GPON have become the mainstream technologies for delivering higher bandwidth and higher quality services to more users at a lower cost,” noted Tom Wong, vice president of High Bandwidth, Micrel. “The SY88236L/AL single-chip ONU/ONT module transceiver not only exceeds required performance and provides many highly desirable features, but also meets our customers’ cost objectives.”

The burst-mode driver provides a 2.5 ns transmit enable and disable time. The driver can deliver modulation current up to 85mA and bias current up to 70mA to support high launch transmit power. The driver’s high compliance voltage makes it suitable for DC-coupling to the laser. The driver features infinite bias current hold time between bursts, and power monitoring such as bias monitoring and modulation monitor while the post amplifier features RSSI. The post amplifier can detect signals with amplitude as low as 5mVpp and has the option to output either a Loss-of-Signal (LOS) or Signal-Detect (SD). The SY88236L comes with internal input termination while the SY88236L/AL does not come with internal input termination. Both solutions are available in a 32-pin (5mm x 5mm) MLF® package.
