Vancouver--(뉴스와이어)--Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the Worldwide Olympic Partner for Wireless Communications Equipment, and internationally acclaimed environmental photographer James Balog, whose work has drawn attention to the dramatic melting of the world’s glaciers, joined today with 30 grade seven students from Mackenzie Elementary to conduct an Eco-Class highlighting the urgent fight against climate change. The class was held at Olympic Rendezvous @ Samsung (OR@S) located in David Lam Park.

“These children represent the future of our planet and through our own actions, we can inspire them to reduce their environmental footprint,” said Mr. Gyehyun Kwon, Vice President and Head of Worldwide Sports Marketing, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.

As Samsung’s Eco-Ambassador for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, James Balog led the students in a discussion of the actions they can take to contribute to a healthier environment, and the vital role that future generations have to play in the caretaking of our planet.

“It is such a highlight for me to teach young minds about what they can do protect the environment,” said James Balog. “Their earnest concern for the health of the planet and eager readiness to take action keeps me motivated as Samsung’s Eco-Ambassador to continue raising awareness about climate change.”

Following the Eco-Class, the children also planted tree seedlings to symbolize “planting the seeds of environmental change” for present and future generations.

Samsung is committed to helping to reduce the impacts of climate change. The corporation’s Eco-Management 2013 plan, announced in July 2009, details a comprehensive set of sustainability goals to be achieved by 2013 that includes the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from manufacturing and products, the development of eco-friendly products, financial investment in eco-management initiatives, and enhanced green partnerships with suppliers and partners.
