Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--The 4th Citi-Kyung Hee NGO Internship Program that was designed to help develop local communities and nurture future NGO leaders finally came to a successful end. Closing ceremony and evaluation session was held at the conference room of Kyung Hee University main bldg.

On the survey conducted to the students and NGOs, 84% of the students had showed satisfaction on their activity outcome. Also, 81% showed high satisfaction on the program itself. On the questionnaire for NGO officers, they had evaluated positively of the work experience opportunity provided to the interns. As for the work attitude of the students, 97% NGO officials had answered that the interns performances were good.

a total of 120 2nd-3rd year undergraduates and graduate school students aspiring to build their careers in local NGOs did their internships in one of 69 NGOs located in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Jeolla, and Gyeongsang provinces during Dec. 28, 2009 ~ Feb. 19, 2010 period. The program is organized by Graduate School of NGO Studies, Kyung Hee University (Acting Dean Lee Hwa-Yong) and sponsored by Citibank Korea (CEO Ha Yung-Ku) that donated 270 million won (USD 225,000) in sponsorship last December.

During the two months, the program advisors and staff members visited 69 NGO offices to meet with NGO officials and internship participants. As volunteering mentors, CKI employees also visited the Beautiful Foundation, Compassion Korea, and Korea Food for the Hungry International to encouraged internship students there.

An evaluation session was held after the closing ceremony to discuss the outcome of the program. “94% of participants said this program allowed them to better understand NGO and its roles, and 95% of NGOs under this program were satisfied that students did their job very well and proactively involved in creating innovative ideas for NGO activities,” said Lee Hwa Yong, Acting Dean of Graduate School of NGO Studies who managed this initiative. “The program was all the more meaningful in that it was timely to help college students gain work experience at a time when global financial crisis made it harder to get job opportunities, and also support NGOs that are short of resources.” He added that his hoped this program would remain intact to help many talented young people contribute to the growth of communities by joining NGO initiatives.
