April 2010 Large-area TFT-LCD Panel Price Turn to Downside
Monitor and Notebook panel prices showed continuous increase from November 2009 to March 2010 but reflected with moderated pace of increase or slight decreases in some cases during April 2010. The price of 18.5” WXGA Monitor panel decreased $2 from early April to $79 and Notebook panel prices showed maintained price level M/M.
Due to the strong demand coming from China, 32” LCD TV panel price which continued its increasing pace from last December showed moderated pace of increase in April 2010 and showed $1 decrease from early April to $205. On the other hand, 42” WUXGA panel price that maintained its price level from last November dropped $5 M/M to $335.
Ricky Park, senior analyst in Display research group at Displaybank noted “due to the over 40” TV panel inventory pressure from some Chinese TV makers in May, we expect to see price decrease. And with the new line operation, we expect to see slight price adjust during the second-quarter of 2010.”
