서울--(뉴스와이어)--Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, has announced the ten winners of its World Creative Imaging Competition (WCIC) – launched to identify global creative talent and the creative names of the future within world-class art schools.

The competition involved selecting students from some of world’s most famous and influential colleges, who were asked to convey their ‘creative moment’ through the use of the new Samsung NX10. Following an online vote which allowed the public to become ‘fans’ of the entrants, images created by the ten winners were unveiled today at the industry-renowned Photo and Imaging Exhibition 2010 in Seoul, Korea. The images from the final ten winners are available to view at http://www.cr8yourworld.com.

In a unique and unprecedented partnership, Samsung joined with art schools throughout six countries to launch the competition to their most creative students. These included aspiring artists, designers and architects. The competition provided an unparalleled opportunity for talented young people to showcase their creativity through the functions and capabilities of the newly launched NX10 camera.

Samsung created this unique opportunity in order to identify the artistic talent of the future and enhance students’ creative process capabilities through the use of the NX10. The advanced technology and feature set of the NX10, including its compact design, an APS-C size CMOS sensor, fast and precise Auto Focus, large 3” AMOLED screen, and easy to use UI enabled students to focus completely on their creative vision when taking their images.

The images include an aerial shot, which was achieved by raising the NX10 with a helium balloon to create miniature effects; a cityscape enhanced with colour and shape; and the development of imaginary landscapes.

The top ten winners, in order of fan base size, are as follows:

1. Ren Zi Wei, Tsingua University (China)
2. Shin Xiao Ran, Beijing Institute of Technology (China)
3. Charlotte Le Quellec, Ecole Estienne (France)
4. Choi Dae-Woong, Chung-Ang University (Korea)
5. Song Ying, Central Academy of Fine Arts (China)
6. Monot Marie, Ecole Estienne (France)
7. Kuk Kwan Cho,Hongik University (Korea)
8. Thomas Lasinski’s, The School of Visual Arts (US)
9. Christopher Rieke, The Design Academy (Germany)
10. Gatis PAKALNS, Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design (UK)

Song Ying, from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in China, a selected winner, commented: “I decided to study art because I like things that are new, unique and beautiful. I get artistic inspiration from my own thoughts when I look at a situation or object, or purely from my own imagination and fantasies. The NX10 is small and easy to carry, whilst still providing fantastic quality.”

Mr. S J Park, President of the Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics, commented, “We were delighted to see such creative and diverse uses of the NX10 by students from across the globe. Samsung is committed to supporting the next generation of creative talent and promoting culture and education. The NX10 camera allowed entrants to further explore their creativity and develop their own story through its capabilities.”

Mr. S J Park added, “The camera’s unique feature set and portability, through to its ability to take professional-quality pictures and record movies, is revolutionizing the way people think and feel about photography and how they integrate camera technology into their everyday lives. Our main aim for the NX10 was to see people take traditional photography a step further and realize their creative vision, rather than just capture what they saw in front of them. A new world of creativity has opened up to people everywhere, enabling them to use innovative and visually stunning effects within their images. The results we’ve seen from the World Creative Imaging Competition are firm proof of this.”

The NX10, launched earlier this year, marks the beginning of a new category and the evolution of cameras. It fulfills the creative needs of photographers worldwide. The NX10 ensures that high-quality imagery is no longer restricted to the elite consumer and guarantees value and creative freedom through its full image processing capabilities.
