Most Of Korean Consumers Intend To Make OnlinePurchases Over Next 6 Months

서울--(뉴스와이어)--It is indicated that Korean consumers are the most likely to plan online purchase in the next six months.

The Nielsen Company, a global information and media company conducted a survey in March 2010 and polled over 27,665 internet users in 55 markets from Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East, North America and South America and concluded that 82% of global consumers are likely to shop online in the next six months. Consumers in Korea(96%) and China(95%) are most likely to make an online purchase in the next six months.

The Nielsen Company also found that books(44%), clothing/accessories/shoes(36%) and airline ticket/reservations(32%) will continue to top the list for planned online purchases in the next six months. For Korean consumers, they intend to make an online purchase of books(67%), clothing/accessories/shoes(56%), cosmetics supplies(49%) and food(49%) in the next six months.

59% of global consumers are not more likely to share a negative rather than a positive product experience online via Twitter or writing a review, 41% would. Asia Pacific (49%) consumers are the most likely to share a negative product experience online than any other region in the world. While consumers in Korea(28%) are the least likely to share a negative product experience online, Chinese(62%) consumers are the most likely to share a negative product experience online in Asia Pacific region.

It is interesting to note that online reviews and peer recommendations also played a key role for shoppers researching future purchases of consumer electronics, cars(38%) and software(28%), and 40% of online shoppers indicate that they would not even buy electronics without consulting online reviews first. Comparing to this, Korean consumers say that they would not buy consumer electronics(33%), cosmetics(28%) and food(22%) without consulting online reviews.

“The Internet has transformed many aspects of life, such as booking travel or buying concert tickets. The ability to do so online has made the process much easier and more efficient and shoppers can obtain experts’ and other shoppers’ online reviews about product/service when making an online purchase.” said Eun-Hee Shin, Managing Director, The Nielsen Company Korea. “We are seeing a strong trend in markets like Korea, where a significant population of online shoppers buy essentials such as groceries, cosmetics and nutrition supplies over the internet. The online market in Korea has a great potential for growth for the future” added Shin.
