June Large-area LCD Panel Shipments Down 2.1% M-o-M

서울--(뉴스와이어)--Displaybank, a global authority in market research and consulting for the display and solar industries, today announced that large-area TFT-LCD panel shipments for June 2010 have turned to decreasing trend. June 2010 global large-area TFT-LCD panel shipments recorded 57.20M units which dropped 2.1% M/M and in terms of revenue, the shipment recorded $6.96B dropping 3.0% M/M. However, LCD TV panel shipments increased 1.7% M/M to 17.56M units which set the record high shipments of all time. These and other findings are disclosed in Displaybank’s newly updated Monthly Large-area TFT-LCD Panel Shipment Data Report, which covers Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panel shipments on a monthly basis.

LCD monitor panel dropped 4.3% M/M to 17.97M units and Notebook panel shipment that showed increasing trend in previous month dropped 3.3% M/M to 20.70M units.

Looking at the large-area TFT-LCD panel shipments by country, Korea recorded 47.6% market share which increased 0.8%p M/M to maintain No.1 position recovering to the beginning of year 2010 level, followed by Taiwan with 41.3% market share, down 0.4%p M/M. Shipments by maker showed LG Display at 24.8% market share in terms of unit-based shipment followed by Samsung Electronics at second position with 22.7%. In terms of shipments in revenue, Samsung Electronics was positioned in No.1 with 25.3% market share followed by LG Display at 24.4%.

Ricky Park, senior analyst in Display research group at Displaybank noted “the recent declines for both panel shipments and price is led by Set makers’ stable inventory operating strategy worrying economic slowdown in the second half of 2010 and the increase in panel order for the preparation of peak-season in year’s end would be delayed with high probability towards August for China and September for North America and European regions.”
