20.01 Million Flat Panel TVs Shipped in September, a 27% Increase M-o-M

Seoul, Korea & San Jose, CA--(뉴스와이어)--Displaybank, a global authority in market research and consulting for the display industry, today announced that September flat panel TV shipment recorded 20.01M units that grew 27% M/M and share of LCD TV reach 90.8% while PDP TV reach 9.2%. In September 2010, 18.17M LCD TVs shipped that grew 29% M/M and 1.84M PDP TVs shipped in the same period that increased 10.4% M/M. These and other finding are disclosed in Displaybank newly updated Monthly FPD TV Shipment Data which covers worldwide flat panel TV shipments of on a monthly basis.

Looking at LCD TV shipment results by maker in September, Samsung Electronics represented 18% of all LCD TV shipments followed by LG Electronics with 12% and Sony with 11% market share. In terms of the market share of LED LCD TV shipment, Sharp, company that shows growing strength in Japanese market, exceeded 50% line of its LED LCD TV production share in September followed by VIZIO with 40% share of LED LCD TV production.

In the third-quarter 2010, 49.48M flat panel TVs were shipped that have increased 11% M/M and among these, 44.44M LCD TVs and 5.04M PDP TVs were shipped. During the third-quarter, flat panel TVs were shown increased demand from the effects of Chinese holiday sales as well as Japan’s Eco-points program. Most of Set makers have finished adjusting their inventories and are increasing shipments preparing for the year-end demand.

Jusy Hong, senior analyst in Display research group at Displaybank noted “the flat panel TV shipments are expected to sharply grow in the fourth-quarter 2010 due to price reductions in both panel and set, aggressive marketing by Set makers and recovery in domestic Chinese market.”
