BofA Blocks CICC's Bid to Top Institutional Investor Ranking of Best China Analysts
- U.S. Bank Claims Its Third Survey Victory in as Many Months

The U.S.-based bank rises from fourth place last year to claim the top spot, rebuffing the spectacular advance of China International Capital Corp. CICC rockets eight places to share the No. 2 space with Citi, which held the same spot last year. Those firms win nine positions each.
Fourth place is also shared by two firms: Deutsche Bank, which rises one notch, and Morgan Stanley, which climbs two; they each capture eight positions. Results are based on responses from more than 1,670 money managers and buy-side analysts at some 660 institutions that oversee an estimated $782 billion in Chinese equities.
BofA's feat marks its third survey victory in as many months. In April the firm vaulted a whopping ten places to win the 2011 All-Japan Research Team. Last month BofA jumped from eighth place all the way to first on the 2011 All-Asia Research Team.
The firm declines to disclose the number of analysts it has covering the region or the number of stocks those analysts follow.
CICC is home to 39 analysts -- two more than last year at this time -- and they follow 172 companies, up from 151. Citi added three analysts in the past 12 months, for a total of 32, and provides coverage of 247 stocks, 35 more than last year.
