Citibank Korea Awards Scholarships to Straight A+ Students of Ewha Woman’s University to Mark its Launch of A+ Account

SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--Citibank Korea, Inc. (CEO Ha Yung Ku, www.citibank.co.kr) announced its plan to grant A+ scholarships to Ewha Woman’s University where Citi employees are contributing their talents as lecturers of Global Finance Academy. Awarding scholarships is part of the celebration to mark the Bank’s introduction of cash withdrawal account named Smart A+ Account 4.5%. For the past 10 years since 2001, the Ewha-Citi Global Finance Academy has contributed to enhancing competitiveness of female talents in the field of finance by delivering Citi’s field experience and know-hows to 1,380 outstanding students who aspire to enter the finance industry. Today, six students who have received academic scholarships equivalent to half of their tuition fees from the school for getting straight A+ both in the 1st and 2nd semesters of 2010 will be awarded the other half through Citibank’s A+ Account 4.5% promotion.

CEO Ha said in his congratulatory speech, “I hope today’s awardees strive even more to become the key players that will lead Korea into the future. On May 2, Citibank Korea introduced to the market its cash withdrawal account, Smart A+ Account, at rates varying on the length of deposits up to 4.5% (before tax) per annum. If Smart A+ Account is opened during promotional campaigns, each deposit made into the account will have separate interest rates. As such, if the length of deposit is ▷ between 1 and 30 days, the rate will be 0.1% (before tax) per annum; ▷ between 31 and 121 days, 4.5% (before tax) per annum; ▷ exceeding 121 days, 3.3% (before tax) per annum. Separate interest rates for each deposit made at different times will be applied to the final balance every day. Interests will be deposited into the account after tax on the first business day of the third week every month provided that deposits made after August will be applied interest rate 0.1% (before tax) per annum if the length of deposit is between 1 and 30 days and 3.3% (before tax and effective as of May 17, 2011) per annum if the deposit stays in the account for 31 days or more. On top of which, if the account fulfills requirements for payroll account or has average balance of at least 900,000 won for the preceding month, additional various frills will be available including ▶ blanket fee waivers for intra-bank ATM / Phone banking (ARS) / Internet Banking / Mobile Banking ▶ limited fee waivers for inter-bank ATM (fees waived for up to 8 withdrawals and 5 fund transfers both per month) ▶ fee discount for foreign exchange / overseas remittance ▶ fee discount for teller transactions.
