New Delhi World Book Fair Concludes, Sees Over 700,000 Visitors

SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--Focused on youth and children, the biennial World Book Fair New Delhi, organized by the National Book Trust (NBT) concluded Sunday, 4th March, after registering over 700,000 visitors. The 20th World Book Fair in New Delhi, the capital of India, began on Saturday, 25th, February, with the Honorable Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Shri Kapil Sibal, who inaugurated the nine-day book fair.

There were 1300 exhibitors, including 30 foreign exhibitors from foreign countries like South Korea, Germany, France, Spain, Belarus, Iran, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, UAE, China, Thailand and United Kingdom and international bodies like WHO, UNESCO and World Bank.

National Book Trust, India organized a lecture on Book Readings and their Influence on My Life by Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, former President of India. “I’m delighted to participate in 20th New Delhi World Book Fair. I’m happy to know that 1300 publishers from many countries are participating. I’m a book lover and happy to learn about your idea of promotion of books,” said Dr. Kalam. “I have come to World Book Fair to spend my time to select good books,” added Dr. Kalam.

The books of Korean evangelical author Dr. Jaerock Lee, Senior Pastor of the Manmin Central Church in Seoul, South Korea including “Heaven”, “Hell” and “The Message of the Cross” were featured and impressed many visitors.

Some visitors told their impression of the books. One said, “Through the books, Heaven and Hell, I came to know clearly about the spiritual realm and have more hope for heaven”.

Mr. Sunil Kumar, the manager of MSS Publishers who published Hindi version of “Hell”, said, “This book has received accolades from many readers, and I also want to publish the series book of ‘Heaven’ in Hindi”.

A representative of ISPCK (The Indian Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge) who is distributing the book “The Message of the Cross” said that “this very good book and worthy enough to become an international bestseller”.

The Church Report based in Arizona, USA, reviewed it and said, “If you saw the movie ‘The Passion of the Christ’, you will find this book vital. In the film, you witnessed the terrible suffering of Jesus on the Cross, and now you can go much deeper into what it all meant in Dr. Lee’s book.”

Author Dr. Jaerock Lee conducted a 2002 Miracle Healing Prayer Festival at Marina Beach in Chennai, India, and during the four days of the festival more than three million people gathered. This monumental festival is widely considered to have made a profound impact on Christian history in India.

At the festival attended mostly by Hindus, Rev. Dr. Lee preached about “Why Is Jesus Our Only Savior?” which was based entirely on the evangelical teachings of the gospel.

Dr. Lee is senior pastor of the Manmin Central Church in Seoul, a 120,000-member international church, and was recently named as one of the “Top 10 Most Influential Christian Leaders of World in 2009 and 2010” by the Christian Telegraph newspaper.
