Habitat Unveils New Feature: Sharing of Grouped Place Recommendations with Touch of a Button
- Users can tell their friends about many locations at once, by creating folders by theme and sharing them
For example, someone who knows Hawaii well can use the Send Folder function to share all the great spots in Hawaii with a friend who is visiting for the first time. Sunset spots that only the locals know about, restaurants that serve the best Loco Moco, and Hawaiian jewelry shops that don’t overcharge--all can be grouped in one folder to create a unique guide book. The friend who receives the folder gets more customized information than any ordinary guide book or online review site. He will feel safe visiting these spots because they are recommended by a trusted friend. Habitat allows information sharing that is catered to one's preferences and needs, like only the best of friends can do for each other.
Online review sites are sometimes criticized for making it difficult to identify trustworthy information sources, because review sites do not necessarily clarify the identity of reviewers. Habitat, on the other hand, facilitates information sharing among friends who know each other, eliminating any mistrust.
“A simple tool like Habitat that allows users to share their favorite spots with their friends didn’t exist before,” says Hiroshi Kaneda, CEO of Spinshell. "Now that the Send Folder feature has been added, we think it will appeal to more users, because word of mouth is one of the most trusted styles of information exchange.”
The Send Folder function is only available in the iPhone app at present, but it is scheduled to be added to the Habitat website and will be included in the Android app, which is to be released soon.
