SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--Citibank Korea (CEO Ha, Yung-Ku, www.citibank.co.kr) and Korea Small Business Institute (President Kim, Dong-Sun, www.kosbi.re.kr) hosted the 5th Citi-KOSBI Women Entrepreneur Awards on June 26, at Grand Hall (B1) of SMB Bldg. in Yoido. The Awards, established in 2008 as part of the Women-led Enterprise Competitiveness Enhancement Program to boost morale of business women running SMEs and share best practices, now head into its 5th year. The Women-led Enterprise Competitiveness Program has been sponsored by Citi Foundation and organized by KOSBI.

The 2012 Citi-KOSBI Women Entrepreneur Awards grant awards in 4 categories including Entrepreneurship, Corporate Social Responsibility, Eco-friendly Management and Human Resources Management. President Kim, Dong-Sun of KOSBI, EVP Jun, Hee-Soo of Citibank Korea, Deputy Division Head Kim, Soon-Chul of Korea Small & Medium Business Administration, and Chairperson Jeon Soo-Hye from Korean Women Enterprise Association delivered remarks to congratulate the winners who are recognized as the new leaders of the Korean economy.

“Competence of Korean women has not been fully unleashed in the society due to remnants of Confucian values,” KOSBI President Kim said in his opening remarks. “Women’s emotion and flexibility are their strengths in the business, and the growing participation of women has significant implications for us. Women CEOs who are here today are welcomed as a growth engine of our economy.” EVP Jun of Citibank Korea mentioned, “We hope that today’s winners will become good role models for other women-led SMEs, and we wish that women can further contribute to our economy through excellent companies led by women.”

On this occasion, exhibit booths were provided to many women-led SMEs including the winners to help them promote their products. In particular, after awarding winners, some women-led SMEs including Sooda Gongbang, Seyoung World, and Hers Kim by Kim Ran hosted fashion shows, which gained a lot of attention and popularity.

Here are the profiles of 2012 Citi-KOSBI Women Entrepreneur Awards winners:

Entrepreneurship: Care Corp. (CEO Choi, Sun-Hee)
: Care Corp. manufactures adult diapers in an attempt to meet the growing needs in the aging society. The company is relentlessly committed to product development through private-academia partnership as well as tapping into diverse markets through exports.

CSR : Juvis (CEO Cho, Seong-Kung)
: Juvis is a diet center, and has been engaged in diverse CSR programs. At home, it has been providing varied CSR programs such as weight loss consulting free of charge, bazaar, rice provision to the elderly living alone or families with disabled persons. It is also committed to CSR initiatives abroad i.e. digging wells in Cambodia.

Eco-friendly management: Bio-Smart Corp. (CEO Park Hye-Rin)
: Bio Smart was the first to turn hanji, eco-friendly Korean traditional papers, into film-type laminated cards. It is a leading company that replaced PVC cards with pollution-free ones by successfully manufacturing and commercializing hanji cards.

HR management: Online Tour (CEO Park, Hye-Won)
: Online Tour is particularly focused on nurturing IT talent, and has been making substantial investments in IT by running its own search engine and IT department. It boasts low turnover, and focuses on nurturing talent to help them develop their own expertise.
