SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--In its first-ever global program to get employees to adopt an active lifestyle, take preventive measures and stay healthy, Citibank Korea Inc. (CEO Yung-Ku Ha, www.citibank.co.kr) has launched Live Well at Citi, an internal health and wellness program.

In Korea, Live Well at Citi was launched by an event where CEO Ha and Citi employees learned the now famous “Gangnam Style” dance at the HQ lobby on September 24, 2012.

YK Ha, CEO of Citibank Korea said, ““Successful, growing businesses are run by healthy employees and we want to help all our employees be both healthy and happy. Employees benefit from a healthier lifestyle, we serve our customers and communities better and everyone wins.”

In the region, Live Well at Citi was launched by Stephen Bird, Citi Asia Pacific CEO who led a four kilometer outdoor run along the Bowen Trail in Hong Kong. Simultaneous launches also took place across Citi’s offices in Asia Pacific.

By providing employees with tools and resources such as health and wellness plans, educational activities and materials as well as fitness challenges, Live Well at Citi empowers employees to take ownership to improve their health and productivity.

The first global activity to challenge all employees to set and attain goals around their individual health and fitness needs and abilities is the Citi Fitness Challenge.

This Challenge encourages employees to improve their health and increase physical activity week-over-week through friendly competition with colleagues around the world. Through an online site, they set goals, work towards achieving these goals, and earn points that will translate to donations to three charities – Habitat for Humanity International, United Way Worldwide and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Online webinar will also be featured for employee champions to encourage and share fitness tips with colleagues.

The first 30,000 employees to register for the Citi Fitness Challenge will receive a fitness kit, including a gym bag, water bottle, keychain, jump rope and pedometer to track their progress.

“The Citi Fitness Challenge is a great way to get employees to increase their physical activity and improve their health with encouragement from peers while helping the community at the same time,” said Stephen Bird.
