CHUNCHEON--(Korea Newswire)--Shebah Biotech Inc.(CEO Hye-Won Lim, www.shebah.co.kr), a company specialized in production of cosmetic ingredients in South Korea, was selected to carry out the research project of “Global Research and Development Agency for Cosmetics (NCR)” that is operated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

“We will embark on a full-fledged research to develop lactic acid bacteria from the skin into materials with global competitiveness in collaboration with Cosmo Korea and Seowon University,” Hye Won Lim, CEO of Shebah Biotech Inc., said.

The research on lactic acid bacteria from the skin started getting attention as the fact that there were lactic acid bacteria in the skin started circulating in the academia; thereby, boosting the expectation for possible relationship between these lactic acid bacteria and skin health.

In such an atmosphere, Shebah Biotech Inc. was carrying out the study to separate and identify specific lactic acid bacteria in collaboration with one university. And the company has completed the domestic and PCT joint application through finding the bacteria of the Lactobacillus species.

Shebah Biotech Inc. plans to identify scientifically the role of the skin lactic acid bacteria related to skin health and aging through carrying out the research in depth as to the lactic acid bacteria that are currently separated and secured, and try to diversify strain materials through securing other skin lactic acid bacteria.

Moreover, the company plans to develop a formulation technology to optimize the efficacy of strain cosmetic ingredients in collaboration with Cosmo Korea, Korea’s flagship cosmetics manufacturer. And going forward, the company will focus on carrying out the research project in order to make skin lactic acid bacteria become a global material to lead the industry through developing a variety of products based on this.

“As one famous cosmetics company has recently become a global brand through levering yeast that is alcoholic strain, the world market has been increasingly recognizing the value of strain as an enterotropicmaterial,” Hye Won Lim. “It is imperative to determine precisely the characteristics of bacteria through research and identify the operating mechanism through finding various physiological effects as an enterotropicmaterial in order to globalize strain as cosmetics materials.”

Further, Shebah Biotech Inc. expects to diversify the cosmetic ingredients utilizing the existing strain existing consisting of yeast or lactic acid bacteria in gut, and develop lactic acid bacteria from the skin, that may be further customized for skin in the future, as global cosmetics materials.
