AhnLab Reports Surge in Q2 Profit
The sales amount and operating profit is all-time highs for the first half of the year. Moreover, the operating profit rate, which has maintained in the range of 30% for the past 6 terms in a row since the first quarter of last year, again recorded 36.4% and AhnLab proves to be at the best security corporate level in terms of growth and profit. The ordinary and net profits recorded 7.65 billion won and 5.52 billion won respectively, which increased by 55.3% and 37.3% from last year.
The sales amount and operating profit in the second quarter of this year recorded 9.21 billion won and 3.306 billion won respectively, each of which increased by 27.7% and 52.1% from the previous year. The ordinary and net profits during this period also increased by 47% and 26.6% from last year, recording 4.2 billion won and 3.04 billion won respectively. As profits generally increase in the fourth quarter, this significant increase in this year’s second quarter records from the fourth quarter of last year is a barometer that can predict the continual growth in future.
AhnLab continued to stay in good shape in both sales and profits in the second quarter despite continuing slump in the Korean IT industry over the past few years, which is analyzed to be the results of three major new engines showing accomplishments including the favorable tendency for online security business, the growth of foreign business, and a series of hit products such as SpyZero and Hackshield.
Especially ‘SpyZero,’ an anti-spyware product released in the latter half of last year, played a big role for the growth. SpyZero has recorded approximately 3 billion won of sales since the release last year. In addition, SpyZero became the first Korean software product to rank top one in the Japanese software package market immediately after the release.
AhnLab recently made the first inroad into the network security market, 70% of which is dominated by foreign-developed products, with the new appliance product ‘AhnLab TrusGuard 3100.’ Moreover, AhnLab accelerates the offensive strategy in Japan, China, and Southeast regions by capturing new markets including the largest security market, North America.
AhnLab plans to focus on the increase of sales by releasing new products and breaking new ground in the foreign market, and therefore to accomplish the goal of approximately 50 billion won in revenue this year.
