Veterans affairs minister visits the United States

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Park Yu-chul, Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, returned home on July 31 after a weeklong visit to the United States, during which he attended ceremonies marking the 52nd anniversary of the signing of the Korean War Armistice, met with U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs R. James Nicholson and toured Los Angeles and Hawaii to visit historical relics bearing Korea’s efforts to become independent from Japanese colonial rule.

On June 26, Park conferred with his U.S. counterpart, Nicholson, on policy trends in support of the honorable treatment of war veterans and other matters of mutual interest. He proposed the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding on the development of an education and training program for medical personnel and officials in charge of veterans affairs.

After participating in a ceremony marking the anniversary of the signing of the Korean War Armistice on June 27, Park attended an event later in the day in honor of Korean War veterans and expressed his deep gratitude for all Korean and U.S. veterans of the Korean War, promising to hold the commemorative event regularly to promote further amicable relations between the two countries.
